STYLE GURU STYLE: Caught Up in Cable Knit

Every season has its trends—and for a long while now, winter has been my favorite season to pull style inspiration from. I have also been taking a lot of style inspiration from UK bloggers, most recently the inspiration has come from Victoria McGrath through a blog called In the Frow. She styles cable knits with such ease, and I cannot get enough. Cable knit sweaters have been a staple in winter wardrobes for a long time, and because of the timeless silhouette, will remain a classic staple for seasons to come. Now that the chilly weather has fully taken its hold, I have been living in cable knits. Not only are they incredibly warm, but they also give your look an element of chicness and effortlessness. I love that you can pair a cable knit sweater over denim or leggings, add your favorite shoe, and you are ready to take on the day.

This sweater has the cable pattern up the front and back, but the silhouette is more of a bat wing than a body conscious or slim fit. The bat wing silhouette allows for a little extra layering if you live in an area where the weather gets to be horribly chilly, but the cut of the sweater is also slim enough to wear a longer coat over top. For this look, I also paired a cashmere plaid scarf for a little bit of added texture and a splash of color. Underneath the sweater, I wanted to keep the styling simple, so I added a pair of ponte knit leggings (to keep you extra warm) and a pair of patent leather loafers. I have been adoring this particular pair of loafers lately, because they have the lighter sole trend along with the classic loafer style shoe. This look is perfect for prancing around during the day, whether it’s for brunch with friends home for winter break or doing some shopping during the post-holiday sales.
