STYLE GURU STYLE: Canadian Tuxedo

Oh, the weather outside is extremely cold and windy and I’m sick and tired of it. I know what you’re thinking, it’s February and you live in Iowa, it’s going to be cold. But I couldn’t help but get way too excited this past week when I was able to walk outside in jeans and a T-shirt without risking my health for the rest of the semester. I had to take advantage of it and step out in what I do best, neutrals and denim.

I spotted this Michael Kors Collection ensemble and knew I could make it into my own. There are two main colors in this look and they happen to make up two-thirds of my closet (aside from black). Instead of making gray the main color, I decided to make the two pieces of the outfit denim and transform it into a look I would wear to class. By making it into a Canadian Tuxedo, I found a runway ready outfit and changed it into an everyday one that was comfy enough to walk around downtown in.

I added my Vans slip-ons with the leather top because they can be paired with almost any bottoms and make your look casual and walk-able. My mom got me this adorable Current/Elliot graphic T-shirt for my birthday and I think it’s made an appearance in my outfit choices at least once a week since then. My jeans are also a major staple in my wardrobe and I’ve found they are perfect for almost any occasion. Putting it all together and adding a few accessories makes this look fun and casual for a nice day.
