STYLE GURU STYLE: Camel And Cream

The recent Ralph Lauren pre-fall 2015 collection is a beautiful mix of everyday looks and formal wear. The looks are all polished and simple, with a camel and cream color scheme. These two colors come off as polished, elegant and put together, as Ralph Lauren mixes a western vibe with an urban feel. Fringes, furs, wools and silks combine for utmost texture. I can only imagine the feel of the suede coats and the wide-legged pants that make this collection look so effortlessly comfortable and cool.

Today, I took to campus trying to emulate Ralph Lauren’s collection. I realized looking through my closet that I actually do have a wide array of camels, creams and whites and immediately set out to create an outfit solely with these three tones. I first started with one of my most recent purchases, a suede camel colored jacket with cream shearling lining. Next, I paired the jacket with a flowy cream colored long sleeve shirt. The shirt’s wide fit brings in the collection’s boxy yet elegant feel.

My biggest challenge with this outfit was what pants to wear while staying within my neutrals only color palette. A strong believer of no white after Labor Day, donning my crisp white jeans for this outfit proved to be an internal struggle. However, when I paired cream high-waisted Free People jeans with my dark brown knee-high boots, I instantly felt the appeal of lighter colors in the dreary weather. My outfit felt simple and classy with a hint of rebellion as I teetered over the no white after Labor Day line. I chose to go with minimal accessories, just like in the collection, to really allow each piece of clothing to stand on its own.

This switch from my normal gray and black winter wardrobe left me feeling ready to take on the snow. I love how these light colors looked perfect for the cold and I cannot wait to utilize this look more!

Get My Look: 1. Camel colored shearling jacket. 2. Cream pants. 3. Tall, dark brown boots.
