STYLE GURU STYLE: Blooming Dark Undertone

There is nothing more dramatic and artistic than the concept and creative work of a fashion designer. Globally, fashion week is a time filled with creative ideas, early fittings, rushed schedules and front row attendees with the biggest names in this iconic world. Each runway shares a poetic truth in the perspective of the designer with models cat walking in unusual and captivating looks, creating an aurora of theatrics and authenticity. Sure, it takes guts for attendees in the front row to wear the most bizarre look during the show, but the true test is when they take these dramatic looks to the streets for everyday wear. Spring 2016 ready-to-wear had jaw dropping looks, but there was just one problem: most collections neglected the fact that spring is a take to start dressing for the warmer weather, with the exception of Dior.

Dior’s collection made a statement that required little effort at all just the strategy of keeping looks simplistic, while providing a sexual darkness undertone through chokers and tight scarfs. The looks on this runway were perfect for that warm spring weather, because the looks were feminine, versatile and softened, providing that hourglass look.  Colors remained neutral and refreshing for spring, with short tailoring and cropped looks that can be replicated from spring into those hot summer months. I translated this look by putting my own edge on this look, but pushing outside the boundaries of these simplistic pieces into a look that was more wild and contrasting. While trying to replicate this look into a more wild perspective, I decided to keep the neutral colors and skin appeal that Dior’s runway provided while capturing another trend that I seen in many of the other showings: a floral appeal. This still kept my look feminine with that dark undertone due to it’s contrast, while also combining that street and sweet irresistible look. Since the cropped top and the chalkboard skirt should be the main statement, I wore a wedged shoe that would provide me with height and an edge that wasn’t overwhelming.

Get My Look: 1. Crop top. 2. Chalkboard skirt. 3. Wedge Shoe.
