STYLE GURU STYLE: Bandanas Are Back

This spring bandanas have resurrected themselves from the ‘90s, making the comeback of the century as the chic new accessory you didn’t know you already owned. Bandanas are debatably the best accessory trend we’ve seen all year. They are like a statement necklace but casual, and inexpensive enough that you can actually own one in every color and not feel trend-addicts remorse next season when they are out again. Bandanas can also be styled in so many ways. Roll it up and tie it in the back for a choker effect, fold it in half diagonally and tie it loosely around your neck for a scarf look, or wrap it around your wrist for an unexpected take on it. Inexpensive and versatile? Now that’s a trend I can get behind.

Not sold on it yet? Well don’t take it from me –– take it from the countless designers and street style starlets who have donned this trend all season. From We Wore What blogger Danielle Bernstein to Kendall Jenner in a model-off duty look, this accessory was all over street style during spring 2016 fashion week.

Today I bring you a look inspired by Coach 1941’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear line. Coach played an integral role in bringing back the bandana before a slew of other designers caught on for this spring. This collection was defined by black leather biker-style pieces, shearling details and bandanas styled throughout. The looks are characterized by a rebellious vibe, with a large majority of the looks being monochromatic black and white.

I interpreted this edgy collection with my favorite black moto-style leather jacket, light wash distressed mom jeans and a basic white T-shirt. I accessorized the look with black lug-sole heeled Chelsea booties and cream, mirrored sunglasses. Of course, this look would not be complete without my bandana. I opted for red to add a pop of color, and layered it with a suede silver beaded choker necklace. Pairing bandanas with simple necklaces is definitely my favorite way to style them.

Get My Look: 1. Red bandana. 2. Suede beaded choker necklace. 3. Leather jacket. 4. Mirrored sunglasses.
