STYLE GURU STYLE: Back To Black

Let’s face it, black will never be out of style. We have seen numerous collections on the runway solely focused on the different shades of black. Alexander Wang’s recent runway show is a clear example of how you can rock different textures of black and still look good.

Sometimes black can be a little boring on a runway and repetitive but it was clear that Wang’s inspiration came from different cultures in which black is heavily influential. This includes the Gothic, Japanese Lolita and heavy metal culture. As you watched the models go down the runway, you could feel the intensity of each outfit. He accompanied most of the outfits with some chain detail, adding some spice to an already amazing sauce.

I wanted to use all the elements Wang incorporated in his looks in my own way. Paying attention to textures, I wore my high shine leggings and suede platform booties. I added in a cropped tank top and placed my oversized sweater around my waist to obtain a more relaxed look. To accessorize, I used my favorite small purse that has a detachable strap and a choker with a silver sun charm on it.

You can never go wrong with black and Wang’s runway show proves just that. From the double-breasted jackets with silver buttons to chunky boots with chain detail, everything is calculated and exciting. You can use different shades, textures or accessories to make black the new black.

Get My look: 1. Shiny leggings. 2. Suede booties. 3. A cute choker.
