STYLE GURU STYLE: Art Of Assemblage

The Calvin Klein Collection pre-fall 2015 show was an assembly of textures and silhouettes, pairing leather, suede and shearling with turtlenecks, bell-bottoms and shrunken dresses. The color scheme remained neutral, featuring beige, nude and ivory with some deeper burgundy, chocolate and cool black for leather pieces and outerwear items. Each of the textures and hues of the pieces were perfectly interchangeable in unique yet polished ways, pairing knit turtlenecks with leather bell bottoms, suede skirts with furry accessories and shearling with leather patchwork. At the same time, many ensembles were matchy-matchy with leather patchwork jackets and matching skirts. The trend of two piece knits paired together in the form of peplum crop tops and maxi skirts. The show as a whole feels like a clean-cut desert dweller meets New York City at the height of the fall season.

With this show serving as my inspiration, I created a look that is a similar assemblage of textures, silhouettes and natural hues to add to my winter wardrobe in preparation for the coming seasons. I dove into the neutral color palette by pairing a natural beige knit turtleneck sweater with my black textured leather pants. I also wore black suede booties with a brown heel for a classic cool weather look. I added my own touch with a practical black leather bucket bag, a nude rose lip, pastel blue nails for the winter weather, golden circle sunnies and a vintage Bulova watch for a retro vibe.

Get My Look: 1. A beige turtleneck sweater. 2. Textured leather pants. 3. A chic suede heel.
