STYLE GURU STYLE: All-Black Everything

No matter the time or season, I am always itching for a fresh way to wear a monochromatic black ensemble while incorporating some of the staple pieces that I already have in my wardrobe. Givenchy’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection inspired me to experiment with textures and silhouettes. Almost all of my favorite looks from the runway show are monochromatic black, accented with leather and topped off with a fabulous pair of shoes. The infusion of different textures and fabrics in each and every look was nothing short of positively fierce and served as a great example for me to switch up my own daily outfit.

With this look, I wanted to capture Givenchy’s over-the-knee leather socks, which were consistent throughout the collection, while keeping my outfit wearable for a fun night out with my girls or just a weekend roaming the city. I chose a pair of simple black over-the-knee socks and layered them on top of my current obsession: textured and patterned tights. These lace tights can act as a nod towards Givenchy’s innovative use of texture throughout the collection. Of course, no look of mine is complete without leather! I’m wearing my favorite easy-breezy pleather jacket and a comfortable but stylish pair of studded booties. I tone down the look and make it more casual by wearing a simple T-shirt dress over a fitted bodycon skirt. Last but certainly not least, I chose to wear a daring shade of dark lipstick and my versatile silver necklace (found in the men’s department!) to play up the geometric shapes Givenchy showcases throughout its fun and fabulous spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of ultra-cool textured tights. 2. A geometric piece of jewelry. 3. An easy leather jacket.
