STYLE GURU STYLE: ALL ABOUT THE KNITS

I take some of my style inspiration from Chanel, so it was nothing new when I put together an outfit inspired by Chanel’s fall 2014 ready-to-wear collection. This collection included a lot of color ranging from neon pinks to nudes. The outfits were mostly constructed with knit fabrics, giving all the looks a classy feel. Turtlenecks were also an important element in this runway show. Most of the large sweaters included unique patterns and high turtlenecks. All the looks were amazing. The three main elements, color, knit and turtlenecks, are what inspired my outfit. I wanted to put together something casual and cute for the weekend.

Strange coincidence or fate? The day before I came across Chanel’s fall 2014 collection, I purchased a pale pink knit crop top with a turtleneck. I knew I needed to recreate a look from Chanel’s collection using this piece and this was a seemingly perfect match. Having this crop top, I searched my closet for something that could emulate the large sweaters featured in the collection. It’s on the warmer side here in Los Angeles, so I couldn’t actually wear a bulky piece. In the back of my closet I spotted my denim jacket. The denim jacket fit the part because it gave volume to my tiny crop top so that the outfit looked more like the collection. The denim jacket also added a casual element. To add my own personal touch, I paired the knit crop top with a simple black skater skirt. Skater skirts are a signature item in almost all my outfits. You can’t go wrong with a little black skirt! I finished the look off with my favorite ballerina flats. My sunglasses also added to the casual vibe.

All together, the outfit is simple and feminine. It has a few basic pieces that really complement the knit crop top. Chanel never fails to inspire my style. This outfit was perfect for a Sunday walk through my neighborhood.

Get My Look: 1. Knit crop top. 2. Denim Jacket. 3. Black skirt. 4. Flats.
