STYLE GURU STYLE: Ace of Spade

As I said before in my STYLE GURU BIO, I love a good classic outfit. Well, the kate spade new york team has nailed it on the head with their new spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The line features many a midi skirt and patterns galore including stripes, florals and color-blocking. The collection is said to be über relaxed and a reflection of nature. With clean and modest cuts, each outfit reflects the timelessness of classic New York style. This collection is the embodiment of “casual cute” with an emphasis on comfort.

Mirroring this collection, I chose a look consisting of a wide floppy hat, a sleeveless blouse, a high-waisted skirt and wedge heels. I really wanted to go for a more nautical look so I stuck to blue, white and brown for the main colors. To get the kate spade new york look I used pieces with the same type of classic cuts, such as the high-waist skirt and buttoned-up collared blouse. I also picked simple accessories that would complement the rest of the outfit.

First, my hat seemed destined for this outfit, it’s a perfect fit for a relaxed summer outfit. My blouse and skirt combination portray the kate spade style. The white dashes on my skirt add just enough pattern to the outfit and the blouse buttoned all the way to the top keeps the look classic. I wore my two-toned wedges because I love the nautical feel they have with the cork heals. Finally, I put on a chunky gold bracelet and my brown leather watch and grabbed a large, two-toned brown wallet. Each piece coordinated well with the outfit as a whole and kept with the brown accenting. Overall, the look was a nautical take off of the new kate spade new york collection.

Get My Look: 1. Patterned skirt. 2. Beachy hat. 3. Chunky jewelry. 4. Summer wedges.
