STYLE GURU STLE: Jewel Tones

As I was perusing the recent fall 2015 runway shows, what really caught my eye were the beautiful colors and patterns many designers were using in their collections. That made me so excited because I feel like for the past couple seasons, neutrals ruled the runways. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love my neutrals, but something about these jewel tones I was seeing made me want to put away by black and white and pull out the vibrant pieces in my wardrobe. The Giamba fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection in particular made my fashion senses go off. The rich, vibrant colors and patterns were gorgeous, especially in this look and this look.

I took the inspiration from this collection and created a look with similar jewel tones. Since I am still a lover of basics, I first started off with a white T-shirt and American Eagle Outfitters destroyed denim jeans. I then added the jewel tones to the look with a deep green cardigan, NARS matte velvet lip pencil in “Never say Never,” a pink kate spade new york purse and a magenta and purple scarf with an Indian-inspired pattern. I finished off the look with cognac booties, tortoise shell sunglasses, a jeweled necklace and my everyday jewelry, including a David Yurman bangle with the same purple jewel tone stones as my scarf.

This look added the jewel tone colors I saw in the Giamba collection while still staying true to my style. It was the first step for me in basically turning into a color freak, which is the perfect change for me coming out of winter. Try adding these rich colors into your wardrobe and spice it up a little for this new season.

Get My Look: 1. A jewel-toned scarf. 2. The perfect deep pink lip color. 3. A cozy cardigan in a deep green color.
