STYLE GURU BIO: Sami Mast

Hi there! I’m Sami and I’m so excited to be joining CollegeFashionista as a Style Guru this semester! I’m a senior at Chapman University in Southern California, which is only 15 minutes away from Disneyland! I’m studying history with minors in religious studies as well as law, justice and social control, although the current plan after graduation doesn’t involve any of these things, and yes, I am freaking out a little. But I’ll figure that out later. For now, I’m so thrilled to be on this fabulous journey with all you lovely ladies and gents!

I’m a firm believer in the fact that style is fluid, and that no one has to be in a particular realm of the fashion world. Although I tend to be drawn to the girly pieces like lace dresses with bell sleeves, I also love edgy, eclectic pieces that make a statement. However, these items can fall under any fashion category from boho to preppy: it all depends on my mood and what I’m trying to accomplish with my look.

I also love to experiment with beauty trends, especially when it comes to lip products. Now, I’m not one to wear black lipstick and heavy eyeliner since it makes me look like I walked straight out of a Twilight novel, but more power to you if you can rock it! I stick with the more natural trends, my favorite right now being multisticks that you can wear on your eyes, lips and face. My favorite right now is Bite Beauty’s multistick in macaroon!

The trend that I’ve been seeing all over Instagram (where I get most of my style inspiration) is off-the-shoulder tops and dresses, like the one you see in these photos. I think they’re such a fun way to add a touch of sweetness to any outfit and, when paired with the right accessories, can give off any vibe you want. I’ve paired my dress with a few bracelets, including this spiked one, to give it a more edgy feel. I think adding accessories that fit your personality are essential to making you and your outfit stand out. As I like to say, the key to making any outfit look good is expressing who you are and having confidence in yourself.

I can’t wait to share more thoughts on fashion and beauty, so be sure to keep up with my posts here on CollegeFashionista!
