STYLE GURU BIO: Rebecca Fechino

I am Rebecca Fechino and I’m beyond excited to start my third semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista. I’m a junior at the University of Tennessee, majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Theatre. Not very many people at the University of Tennessee are very interested in fashion, but the ones who are really give me different inspirations, especially in theatre. The costuming, makeup and colors used help me find different ways to express myself and my different looks.

Although I know what I like to wear, I am still trying to find my way through fashion. I like to experiment with merging different styles of clothing to create one outfit. I find inspiration in anything: colors, art, patterns, etc. Although, my friends are my main source of inspiration. They take risks, and they aren’t afraid of what people think of them. By hanging out with them, I discover who I can be through fashion.

Getting dressed in the morning isn’t a chore for me. I look forward to it, presenting myself in a new way for a new day. Dressing for me is a chance for people to see me in the way that I see myself. Fashion is the easiest form of individualism. It uses your feelings and shows people who you are and what you feel. You can usually find me in a skirt, sneakers and a cool printed T-shirt, but lately I’ve been really into cropped sweaters and bright skirts.

Don’t just wake up in the morning and throw on a T-shirt and gym shorts. Having good style isn’t hard, but it does take some effort. Use this time in college to find who you are through fashion and find your confidence. Own it, dress to express yourself and don’t let anybody waver your pride.
