STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Williamson

Hey all you beautiful people! My name is Rachel Williamson and I am a junior at the University of Kentucky, studying merchandising, apparel and textiles. This will be my second semester with CollegeFashionista and I could not be more excited!

I will be graduating a semester early, which makes me so thrilled and also so incredibly anxious. I will be entering the *real world* and have no idea what branch of the fashion industry I want to pursue a career in. I do know that I love talking with people and writing about all things fashion, from inspiring muses to history-making fashion moments; all facets of the fashion world make my heart flutter. So far through CollegeFashionista I have been able to combine my love of fashion and my love for people, and it has been a truly rewarding experience!

If I could describe myself in two words it would be eclectic and spontaneous. I also think these are the two words I would use to translate into my style. I am the girl who last minute is searching for an outfit to an event, ends up buying two or three random statement pieces and then combines them with other favorites in my closet. I am also a huge sucker for anything that is funky and unique. (Think fun bags that look like a Game Boy or sunglasses with the most extreme cat eye).

I love to pair patterns and mix different textures. Right now one of my current obsessions is anything plaid or anything with fur, faux of course. I think plaid shirts are the perfect go-to for any winter wardrobe and can easily be dressed up or down. Also they make layering a breeze! My favorite way to wear my plaid shirts is with my fur vest. However, unique coats are also my winter obsession and a rich, chunky coat could be paired with this look very easily!

And of course no outfit is complete with out the perfect shoes and garnishing of accessories. For winter it seems the only shoes I grab are booties. Booties for me are the easiest and most comfortable of high heels. So they make me look great, while also adding an extra dose of confidence. From there I grab my favorite bag and add the unique touch of a scarf for my bag. This allows for extra flare in my outfit and the accessories can be easily changed with whatever my mood is.

So there you have it! That is what I’m currently obsessing over. I can not wait to see what all the Fashionistas/os are obsessing over this semester. Let’s make it a great one!
