STYLE GURU BIO: Rachel Norwood

Hello there! I cannot begin to tell you how ecstatic I am to be part of the CollegeFashionista family, but I will try. Let’s start from the beginning.

I am a senior at California State University, Fullerton majoring in Communications with an emphasis on Public Relations. More importantly, I am a makeup artist, photographer, blogger and Fashionista trying to find my niche within the fashion and beauty industries.

Though I can’t say I was born a Fashionista, my experiences working as a makeup artist on fashion shows and photo shoots around Los Angeles kick-started my Fashionista journey. L.A. is a massive melting pot where you are exposed to anything and everything fashion related and beyond. I have been to several fashion shows where I have seen everything from Halley Davis’ grunge inspired collections to the bold yet feminine collections of Jill Aiko Lee. My personal style icon is Delicia Cordon whose hyper-feminine, urban inspired collections have a special place in my heart.

What I have come to love and appreciate most about fashion is how people take what they see on the runway and in magazines and turn it into something completely unique and their own. This is where clothes becomes more than just stuff you cover your body with. It’s where it becomes fashion.

As a Style Guru, I am thrilled to be able use my photography and journalism skills, not to mention my gift for gab, to show off my campus’ unique sense of style. I am looking forward to this journey, and I hope to inspire all you Fashionistas/os to find your own unique style.
