STYLE GURU BIO: Melaniya Miao

“A journey of a thousand miles continues with the second step.” Here I am to kick off my second semester as a Style Guru. I am Melaniya, junior at University of Wisconsin Madison majoring in accounting. A warm hug to those awesome people who have supported and encouraged me for the past semester and greetings to the awesome people who are reading my articles and passionate about fashion.

Here is a little bit about me: Disney is my dreamland, mermaid is my dream creature, dogs are my favorite friends, spicy food is my must-have for a meal, red lips are part of my daily outfit, and fashion designer is my dream career. My enthusiasm for fashion promptly started since I dressed up my first Barbie doll in kindergarten. As a typical Sagittarius girl, I always crave the freedom of the open road, the versatility of life, and the creativity in style. Variety and riskiness won’t get me mad but normal routine can drive me nuts. I am never a fan of following the trodden path. Dressing up according to my daily mood is my morning image. If you take a peek into my wardrobe, you can probably sense my personality and style. My favorite clothes aren’t necessarily expensive or branded but definitely unique.

Among all the talented designers in the history or at present, Vera Wang is my fashion godmother. Her attitude towards life and fashion, and her diligence in her beloved career, have inspired me at all times. As Harper’s Bazaar describes, Vera Wang is definitely not the only 67-year-old woman in New York who stalks the Upper East Side dressed in skintight Danskin leggings, Marc Jacobs fur, and a black cap, but she is the only one who looks great doing it. As a lot of you have the dream of getting married in a Vera Wang wedding dress, I am definitely there with you.

In this bio look, I choose this maxi shirt featuring a unique high slit and a turtleneck as the core of my outfit. It is originally designed to be layered over a long skirt or high-waisted trousers, but I decided to wear it as a top and show some skin in a relatively gentle Wisconsin winter day. The long coat with folded collars helps create a sharp look and powerful sphere. The light blue ripped jeans lighten up the overall color. I complete this look by the clutch with assorted colors and ankle boots which get me the most compliments wherever I go. This look speaks the most of my winter style as far as the weather is not so bad that I have to put on my bulky down jacket.

Thanks for stopping by my fashion realm at CollegeFashionista and welcome back to check more of my posts throughout the semester! I would love to hear from you and share my ideas with all the fashion lovers!
