STYLE GURU BIO: Madalynn Mershon

Hello, fellow Fashionistas and Fashionistos alike!

My name is Madalynn, Maddy, Mad-dog; whatever you choose to call me, I’ll answer. I am an incoming freshman at Columbia College Chicago studying interior architecture. I am thrilled to share my style with the interwebs as a member of the CollegeFashionista team.

I come from a very small town that’s about two miles south of nowhere. The fashion statements there weren’t much of a statement at all. Just take a little bit of typical and mix it with generic and that’s where my hometown lands. Being the adventurous woman I am, I was able to stand out from the crowd with my fun fashion choices and ever changing hairstyles.

There are four fashion rules that I will forever stand by. One, ALWAYS wear clean underwear. Two, keep your toenails painted at all times. Three, your eyebrows should always be on point- take an extra minute in the mirror at night plucking those pesky strays. Four, if you look good you feel good. This is by far the most important rule, well maybe not as important as wearing clean undies but definitely a close second. Whether I have a cold or I’m stressing out over a test, throwing on a cute outfit always makes me feel better and gives me the extra boost of confidence I need to make it through the day.

My style is all over the place. It ranges from casual T-shirts to Dolce & Gabbana heels to ripped jeans to skater skirts. In my opinion, that’s what makes my outfits slay the scene. I love to pair a simple T-shirt with an outspoken piece of clothing and a killer pair of heels. If we share similar styles, feel free to follow my page.

Harry Winston once said, “People will stare. Make it worth their while,” and that’s exactly what I do.
