STYLE GURU BIO: Laila Dar

Hi everyone, I’m Laila. This is my first time as an intern for CollegeFashionista, so I’m super excited about it! I’m a senior at Austin College in the small town of Sherman, Texas, and I’m majoring in Business Administration and Art History. I first stumbled upon this site when I was a senior in high school, trying to figure out what normal college students wear to class, and I’ve been in love ever since.

Up until the age of 15, I was forced to wear a uniform to school every day. Because I was stuck in a sea of purple polos and khaki pants at school, I was forced to find style inspiration elsewhere. After reading countless issues of Teen Vogue and Seventeen, I started to take an interest in fashion. I wanted to be surrounded by the glamorous outfits that filled the pages of my magazines, so when I got to high school, I started taking some fashion design classes. Ever since then, I have been in love with fashion.

My personal style is a mix of preppy, girly and glam, but it seems to change every day. One day, I could be sporting a sweet floral blouse with a pair of ballet flats, and the next day, I could be rocking some faux leather pants and a grungy plaid shirt. (But of course, I still have my days where I refuse to wear anything but my favorite hoodie and some comfy leggings!) I believe fashion is a way to express who you are, but that doesn’t mean you have to be confined to one single style. I’m always inspired by the people around me, so I feel my style is constantly evolving.

I’m super excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista this spring, and I hope my posts will inspire you to change up your style! I hope you all have a lovely semester!
