STYLE GURU BIO: Kera Bussey-Sims

January 6th, 2016 at 2:10am

Hello, everyone! My name is Kera Bussey-Sims and I am a sophomore at Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. I don’t know if I should even type out my current major because it will most likely change about five more times before a graduate. As of this very moment, I am majoring in English and Classics and minoring in Art History and Mandarin Chinese. Although I’m not sure what I’m going to do with these degrees just yet, I know that I love writing and learning about the history of different cultures. I’ve been toying around with the idea of going to law school (don’t get too excited, Dad), but we will see.

If you read my last STYLE GURU BIO, you saw that I listed some fun facts about myself. I thought that was more fun and showed a bit more of my random and quirky personality, so I think we should give that another shot. One of the most important things that I am involved in is my sorority; I am a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, which is commonly known at Tri Delta. Being a member of Tri Delta has really helped me grow into the young lady I want to be in so many ways. I feel as though I can pursue my dreams of working in the fashion industry because I know I have girls around me that will always have my back, no matter what. I go to school in Delaware, Ohio, but I am originally from Saint Louis, Missouri (go Cards). Growing up, I could not wait to leave Saint Louis. I thought it was so boring and dull, and I thought that as soon as I left for college I would never come back; however, leaving Saint Louis actually made my hometown pride even stronger and now I love where I’m from. Another thing about me—I am gluten-free. My life kind of revolves around cute outfits and trying to find gluten-free foods, so I felt that was worth mentioning.

Now that you have a better sense of who I am, lets talk about fashion. Being in college, I have honed my talent for wearing the same pieces repeatedly, but in different ways. For example, I literally have three pairs of the same black Zella leggings that I wear at least three times a week (real pants never seem like a good idea at 7:30 a.m.). Some days, I will pair the leggings with a basic oversized sweater, a patterned scarf, a nice pair of earrings and my favorite pair of Frye boots. Other days, I will throw on my dad’s sweatshirt (that I stole from him three years ago), a vest, Nike socks and the most comfortable pair of sneakers I can find. While it may not sound very fashionable, I think it beats sweatpants.

I am super excited to continue writing about the different styles and trends I find around the Ohio Wesleyan campus; be sure to check back for more.
