STYLE GURU BIO: Kendra Cray

Hi y’all! My name is Kendra Cray and I am a returning Style Guru. This will be my fourth semester with CollegeFashionista!

I have always had a love for fashion. From dressing up in my mom’s clothes when I was younger to now dressing up my friends’ almost any chance I get. My life seems like a never-ending wardrobe change. I hope that all of my interests and experiences will lead me to starting my own clothing boutique or becoming a buyer for a major retail company. Until then, you can find me in the good ‘ole ‘Boro updating my fashion blog CollegeGirlKendra.com. I am a Marketing/Fashion Merchandising major at Georgia Southern University. Continuing into my junior year here, I have been introduced to variety of styles that I cannot wait to capture for you.

If you know anything about Statesboro of Georgia weather in general, you know it can be very bipolar. The seasons just can’t seem to make up their mind, especially in the winter months. Holding this to be true, my outfit is ready for anything. I went for a light denim pair of high-waisted pants with a yellow chiffon top tucked in. I made sure to have my favorite flannel just in case it got a little cooler throughout the day. To bring this outfit together, I added a tan pair of booties.

But where, you may ask, did I find my fashionable instincts? Transitioning from middle school to high school opened my eyes to a wide variety of clothing options. A slightly awkward jeans and a T-shirt 9th grade girl was immediately introduced to an entire realm of ‘girly’ clothing upon her first day of high school. I would like to think experimenting with clothing gave me a voice in high school and later paved the way for my fashion advocacy and lead me to create my own personal blog CollegeGirlKendra.

A solid outfit can give me the confidence I need to seize the day. I dress up because it’s fun. I love creating different combinations of my clothing. I dress up because it’s a test of your confidence. Dressing up forces you to develop the self-assurance necessary to stand out from everyone else. I dress up because nothing beats the rush I feel when I look in the mirror and love what I see. Being a Style Guru is only going to expand my fashionable horizons and I cannot wait to share with y’all every month!
