STYLE GURU BIO: Keighla Exum

Hey there all you Fashionistas! I’m Keighla Exum, a second year marketing student at St. John’s University in Queens, New York. I enjoy immersing myself in all things social media (YouTube, Instagram and Pinterest are my faves). I aspire to have the life of a blogger/YouTuber—a fun, flexible and hardworking yet fulfilling life. I plan to create my own lifestyle blog in the near future! I love dogs, clothes and consider myself quite the pizza connoisseur (my favorite is still Regina’s on the corner of Union Turnpike and Utopia Parkway).

Other than fashion, I have many other passions. I would consider myself an avid traveler, moving every two to four years due to my dad’s position in the Navy. Living overseas has given me amazing experiences, allowing my family and me to travel around Asia and parts of Europe. I have been a cheerleader since I can remember up until last year, when I joined my university’s cheerleading team. Winning school championships, becoming a 2008 NCA national champion and cheering on the St. John’s Red Storm at Madison Square Garden are among my favorite memories. Art and DIYs are also another love of mine. You can find me practicing my calligraphy skills in my dorm.

Traveling and moving has definitely affected my style choices. Now that I am living in New York, I tend to stick with more neutral, cool tones. I can be seen wearing all-black pretty much all of the time, and my trench coat never goes out of style. Fall is definitely my favorite season- who doesn’t love a good turtleneck and a cup of hot coffee? My go-to outfit is definitely a black flowy shirt and a pair of great fitting blue jeans. I always love a chic pair of flats. My favorites are a suede loafer style with a pointed toe. On colder fall days, I always reach for my favorite trench coat.  I would say most of my style inspiration comes from Gigi Hadid. Her urban-chic style is so classic and cool. She sets an example for college girls everywhere that you can be in college and still have time to look chic. She shows us that simple pieces like a pair of good sneakers and jeans that fit just right and a simple coat can elevate your style.

On campus, you can find me in my dorm room working on classwork or indulging in Netflix, sipping on an iced chai tea latte from Starbucks. If I’m not at school, you can find me exploring the city. I love shopping in SoHo trying to get a good deal. Make sure to follow me on my fashion journey with CollegeFashionista! Stay rad my friends.
