STYLE GURU BIO: Kathleen Knowles

Hey, what’s up, hello Fashionistas! My name is Kathleen Knowles and I am so excited to start my second semester as a Style Guru intern for CollegeFashionista! Everything is pretty much the same: I am still a junior at the University of Georgia, I am still a double major in history and international affairs with a minor in fashion merchandising and most importantly, I am still obsessed with all things fashion (especially shopping).

However, the one thing different about this semester of my college adventure is that I’m slowly beginning to realize that graduation is quickly approaching. With the stress of fifteen page research papers, crafting a meaningful résumé and finding the perfect internship, I’ve found that my sense of fashion has become more about creating the perfect balance between comfort and style. Maybe the laziness that inevitably overwhelms any college student has finally found me or maybe I’m actually catching on to the popular athleisure trend, but recently I have found myself wearing more minimalist sweatpants from Urban Outfitters and normcore inspired tops than usual.

It is so easy to throw on layers of clothing that separately may be boring, but together create a stylish, yet comfortable, look. Since it’s finally starting to get slightly colder here in Georgia, I love layering my loosely fit summer dresses over comfortable bralettes and tall socks, which always seemed more edgy than tights. I usually add a long simple necklace and a pair of stylish boots or heels to my outfits to help make my look more interesting and pulled together. I think that as long as you add a little something extra to any look and take a risk, even if it is a small one, you are bound to stand out as a Fashionista.

Now that I’ve updated you on my life and my most recent fashion interests, I can’t wait to show you the styles of my fellow Fashionistas at UGA and continue by journey as a Style Guru!
