Hello beautiful people! My name is Julia and this is my first semester as a Style Guru. I am a junior at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, but I am originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia. I am a marketing major with a specific interest in fashion marketing, which is a big reason I wanted to be a part of CollegeFashionista!
Outside of going shopping and attending classes, I enjoy working out, reading and hiking. I have always loved being outside and have always been a bit of a nature girl since I was small. I have a joke with my mom that I didn’t wear shoes until I had to go to school. My favorite books right now are the Harry Potter series and I am even currently rereading them all because they are just that good.
I grew up in a very suburban town where no one was very adventurous about his or her style. As a child I was always encouraged to pick out my own clothes which was not always the best idea, but this made me adventurous with my style from a young age. I am so thankful for that because it has truly contributed to the fashion choices I make as an adult. I love making new outfits out of clothes that I already have in my closet and adding an unexpected twist to a classic outfit.
My signature style is modern bohemian. I’m really into the relaxed look of loose clothing paired with something sharp. I am currently obsessed with my brown ankle booties. I paired them here with a cropped sweater and a red paisley maxi skirt to give the outfit that boho feel that I’m absolutely in love with. The sharp element that I added to this outfit are the lilac, mirrored Ray-Bans. They give the look some sophistication without being too flashy.
