STYLE GURU BIO: Jennifer Rasmussen

Hi, I’m Jen!

(*Insert me giggling, smiling with all my teeth, tucking stray strands of unruly curly red hair behind my ear and reaching out my hand to shake yours).

I’m more excited than a dog licking a spoon full of peanut butter to be interning for CollegeFashionista this spring. I’m a sophomore at St. Cloud State University, in St. Cloud Minnesota. I am majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Marketing. I write about finding my style, fantastic food and funny things that happen to me on my personal blog, Jenstylings. I dream of one day moving to a big city, being the boss of something really important and having enough money to comfortably afford really high-end frozen pizza. For now, Central Minnesota, studying for class and off-brand thin crust will do.

One thing I am absolutely certain of is that laughing is good. People who always keep me laughing include my crazy family. I have one fabulous big sister and one spectacular little sister. I like to think that I’m the ham to a greatness sandwich. My mom and dad are both teachers. I absolutely love kids, and I planned on being a teacher as well; until I realized, I was far too deep in love with anything and everything that goes into creating a vibe, style and brand.

My style has taken a long time to cultivate. Everyday I learn more about myself. I find my style inspiration from powerful and confident women such as Taylor Swift, Jennifer Aniston, many College Fashionista Style Guru’s and of course, my mom. When you find what makes you feel powerful and confident, you have found your style.

The outfit I’m wearing makes me feel just that. These boots have been my go-to this season. Ankle booties were insanely popular this fall, and the craze is following us into winter. This pair is a little more dramatic with the heel, yet subtle enough to be the finishing touch to a vast array of outfits. My peacoat is perfect for the freezing Minnesota temperatures and is a timeless winter classic, similar styles can be found at Old Navy. Winter winds wreak havoc on hair. Messy buns are an excellent solution to keep you looking casual yet chic and also happen to be my hairdo standby. Now let’s talk about my tote; I absolutely love it. Three reasons I’m in love with this tote: 1) it’s in style this season, 2) it makes me look fancy enough to be the kind of person that can afford high-end frozen pizza on a regular basis, and 3) it’s the perfect size to actually carry a frozen pizza. (Trust me).

Along with sharing the fashion trends of St. Cloud State University’s campus, I want to inspire Fashionista/os to find what makes them feel powerful and confident. If I do this, as well as provide a few giggles along the way, I will consider my time spent as a CollegeFashionista Style Guru a success.
