STYLE GURU BIO: Jasmyne Ray

With Vogue acting as the constitution of my life and me treating the contents of its glossy pages as gospel, I’ve been a slave to fashion and any and everything having to do with the sartorial since the ripe age of 12. It actually took a while for me to muster up the courage to wear what I wanted and now that I have, I’m letting my freak flag fly. I’d describe my style as a cocktail of Alexa Chung and Jourdan Dunn because they’re my style/life icons because they do and wear what they want without caring what others think and are just plain #rad. I’d describe my personal style as edgy meets classic.

In the fall, I’ll be a junior at the University of Montevallo (I’m halfway done with college, it’s scary). There, I’m getting the best education a small, charming, southern liberal arts college has to offer as well as being a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated (i.e. the best sorority in the world). I’m majoring in mass communication with a minor in public relations and communications because I love people and writing about them. The goal is to one day be able to walk through the doors of Condé Nast as one of their illustrious editor, I believe that I can provide a fresh, new perspective on the fashion industry with my writing and opinions. What else is there to say? I’m basically a human corgi that can bark for years about Beyoncé, feminism, books and music.
