Hello all of you wonderful Fashionistas out there! My name is Jailyn Poindexter and I am a Fashion Design major currently finishing my freshman year at Drexel University. I’m so excited to start my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and cannot wait to see what this journey holds for me. If there are two things I love in this world, they are clothes and talking. So clearly I have found the place to marry the two!
I pull my style from a wide range of inspirations, whether it’s the runways of New York Fashion Week or having to wake up early after a hard practice and an all-nighter. Clearly my peers have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Nevertheless, I always try to put my best foot forward—and by that I mean my best footwear. Even though my closet is currently lacking, shoes will always hold a special place in my heart; although that very well could change tomorrow seeing as I constantly find a new aspect of my personal style to obsess over as the seasons change.
I didn’t so much discover my love of fashion as it was discovered for me by my mother. At the ripe old age of three, I was caught ruining a brand new pair of socks (and not to mention the carpet) with red paint and rhinestones as I attempted to not-so-stealthily recolor my wardrobe. Ever since then, my life has been a myriad of color and clothes as I realized that although my friends liked a certain shirt, I could name why I did in detailed observation. Sixteen years and an infinite amount of fashion mistakes later, I am here. Not just to relay the hottest new looks worn by Fashionistas just like you, but to learn as well and to watch my style grow and mature as I meet tons of new and diverse people with a wealth of style knowledge. I look forward to being your personal Style Guru this summer as I find trendsetters with the boldest and freshest looks to make sure we are the best Fashionistas we can possibly be.
