STYLE GURU BIO: Hannah Boykin

Hi, my name is Hannah and I am so excited to join the CollegeFashionista team this semester! A little about me: I’m Georgian, a total shopaholic, avid lover of coffee, freshman at the University of Georgia, fashion merchandising major with a minor in communication studies, and a firm believer that when you look good, you feel great.

I love bad reality TV, cheering on the Georgia bulldogs, and any shopping spree that includes Urban Outfitters, Topshop or a local boutique in my college town of Athens, Georgia. Right now, I am loving faux furs, statement belts, and heeled booties for a stylish winter look. If you’re looking for a way into my heart, a cup of coffee or oversized sweater (preferably gray) is the way to go.

I found my love for fashion at the age of 12. Many middle schoolers found fun in watching the newest show on Disney Channel, playing sports, or spending time with friends downtown in my hometown of Decatur. While I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy some froyo with friends after school on a Friday or the newest episode of Hannah Montana, I spent my time watching Project Runway on a weekly basis, reading Teen Vogue the second it arrived in the mail and sketching a rather colorful and glitter-filled collection that really embodied my 12-year-old sense of style. I was shy and self-conscious like many kids at this stage in their life, but a new outfit gave me confidence unlike anything else. Fashion is a lifestyle, one that for the last six years of my life has evolved, expanded and become a defining factor in who I am.

If I were to define my style I would say it’s typically a mix of trendy-chic meets effortlessly simple. Gray and black are my go-to colors and what my look lacks in color, it makes up for in detail. I love simple pieces with a cool and edgy addition, whether it’s a sweater with intricate stitching or a pair of pants with a standout zipper. It’s all about that special thing that makes your look unique. Kendall Jenner, Audrey Hepburn, and my grandmother Mimi, whose closet was something to admire in both size and style, are people that I look to for inspiration.

Now that you know a little about me, stay tuned to see what amazing style I spot on campus and around Athens. Here’s to a great, stylish semester!
