Hello Fashionistas/os! My name is Hally Darnell, and I am a sophomore at Michigan State University. I am an Advertising major with a minor in Public Relations. This is my first semester writing for CollegeFashionista, and I could not be more excited!
Fashion is my first love and writing is my second. Since before I can remember, I’ve had a subscription to Teen Vogue, and every month I would read the magazine cover to cover and then five times more. These days, while I still bury myself in my favorite magazines every month, I tend to get most of my fashion inspiration from the digital world. I check my favorite fashion blogs religiously and spend most of my free time online shopping while simultaneously scrolling through Instagram.
As for my personal style, less is always more. I love a good neutral color scheme and nice textures. I love the contrast of a thick knit sweater, leather or ripped denim and a fur vest. While my style is pretty minimalistic, I can always appreciate a pop of color or print, especially in my footwear and accessories.
While working in the fashion industry is something I have always had my heart set on, it wasn’t until I came to college that I realized all of the opportunities I had available to me to start my career as early as possible. During my freshmen year of college I started my own fashion blog, something I hope to build in the future. Over the past semester, I worked as a fashion writer for my school’s fashion magazine, VIM, which is an experience I will value throughout my future.
I am constantly looking for outfit inspiration whether it comes from the runway or from the sidewalks of my campus. I cant wait to share my inspirations through this incredible internship!
