STYLE GURU BIO: GiGi Ganzer

Hello fellow fashion fanatics! I’m GiGi Ganzer, a sophomore at Radford University studying Fashion Merchandising. This is my second semester as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista, and I cannot wait to continue to spread my fashion enthusiasm and wisdom to those who appreciate it most. My mission is to add some spice to your life and help guide you through the many do’s of the most used form of expression—fashion.

At the fresh and flirty age of 20, I feel as though I’m in the start of my fashion prime. I am finding that my style is changing at the steady rate of my rising sophistication and taste. My style is becoming more minimized as I start to realize the true importance in life—family and fashion. My magic word for the new year is “simplicity”.

As a Style Guru, I have the constant task of being on the prowl for fashion trends and inspirations. Not only am I meeting super fabulous Fashionistas/os, but I am able to compliment them which gives them that extra boost of confidence and ideally leaves them with the satisfaction that their fashion sense isn’t going unnoticed.

Outside of school, I am a freelance makeup artist for Lancôme Cosmetics. Through my role of being a makeup artist, I find similar satisfaction as I do with being a Style Guru. This connection regards the same process of meeting a stranger and providing a genuine compliment—which ultimately boosts their confidence. Life is all about connecting with people, so why not do so with the things you love? Fashion is a lifestyle to many, but I want to make it my career. I believe in never giving up on something you can’t go a day without thinking about.

In this holiday look, I took a sheer emerald green sweater dress and layered it with a brown fur vest. To add some textured edginess, I paired black leather leggings to sneak through the side slits. I kept my accessories simple with my Betsy Johnson gold heart cross-body bag, black leather Chelsea boots and three rose gold BCBGeneration affirmation cuffs and gold rings (my fave). I was able to build my own statement with one of them, and I chose to capture my favorite CollegeFashionista phrase, “Style On,” to wear on my wrist for everyday inspiration. To top off this look, I pulled my hair in a half up, half down topknot. A full mane of hair would have detracted from the simple elegance this look had to offer. I chose a deep matte red lip to accent the green for the holidays.

Look forward to reading my articles every Thursday; a great way to wind down your week and get some weekend style motivation and inspiration. Happy New Year 2015! Let’s continue to be fearless and keep taking those style risks. Shine on Fashionistas/os!
