STYLE GURU BIO: Francesca Rodrigo

Hi everyone! My name is Francesca and it seems that aside from my first name, my life is filled with letters that start with the letter “F”: family, friends, faith, food, and fashion. I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru for College Fashionista as I start my second semester at Rutgers University-New Brunswick. I plan to major in supply chain and business management. I then hope to further my education after four years by studying fashion merchandising for my masters degree.

Coco Chanel once said, “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening”. Whether it was sneaking into my aunt’s makeup vanity when I was a little girl, or trying on my grandma’s shoes, I feel that beauty and fashion have played a key role in shaping who I am. During my spare time you can find me at the mall trying on clothes and spending the money I swore I would save, or sitting at home online shopping for the latest trends. For anyone who is close to me they know there is no better way for me to destress than some retail therapy. Furthermore, you can find me watching “get ready with me’s” and clothing hauls on YouTube for hours on end. It amazes me how many hours can go by as I scroll through different fashion blogs, Pinterest boards, and YouTube channels.

When it comes to my fashion sense, I go from being inspired by the basic but dressed-up New York Street style to the boho and free-spirited SoCal style. Basic tops are key when it comes to my wardrobe, as it seems my closest is filled with a ton of gray, blue, black, and white. However, similar to many fashion trends, my style can vary.

Living in New Jersey, I get to experiment with many different outfits and makeup looks based on the changing seasons. As winter is surely hitting the east coast, I am all about chunky oversize sweaters, leggings, and boots. After all, comfort is always key. In this outfit, I am wearing my favorite cowl neck sweater, a pair of ripped black jeggings, and black riding boots. On a daily basis I pair my outfits with a pair of sunglasses on my head and accessorize with dainty rings. Also, living next to the wonderful city of New York, I have grown to realize the endless amount of possibilities the fashion world has to offer.

I cannot wait to discover those possibilities and to start this semester as a Style Guru! Happy shopping, browsing and reading!
