STYLE GURU BIO: Emma Fojtik

Hi everyone! My name is Emma Fojtik. I am a junior majoring in Social Work at the University of Illinois, however, this spring I will be studying abroad in Leuven, Belgium. Keep an eye out for some fun, European influenced articles! I am excited to try all of the great food, experience a wonderful culture and find new style inspiration during the next few months.

I have always been interested in beauty and fashion. Growing up, my friends and I would put on crazy shows for our parents at least once a week. We’d adorn ourselves in hot pink lipstick, sequined party dresses and our mothers’ high heels. Unfortunately, I am no longer a runway star, but I do still like to show off my favorite trends and styles through social media. CollegeFashionista is so amazing because it gives young adults an opportunity to express themselves and gather creativity from a like-minded community.

I would describe my style as simple and relaxed. I love basics because they can easily be dressed up or down just by adding layers and accessories. On a daily basis, you will catch me in a soft oversized T-shirt and ripped boyfriend jeans. I hate feeling uncomfortable or constrained, especially if I am spending hours sitting inside a classroom or have a busy day full of errands to run. When I want to spice things up, I like incorporating different textures like faux-suede, leather and cashmere into my outfits.

In this look I am wearing a chunky knit sweater. It is perfect for the wacky weather right now because sometimes it’s too hot for a winter jacket. I am also embracing white after Labor Day with pair of distressed jeans. I don’t shy away from neutrals because they are wearable year round. To add a little bit of color and edge, I finished things off with a pair of pink slip-on sneakers.
