Hi fellow gurus! I’m Cassie, and hope you laugh at my jokes just as much as I do when I type them. I’m originally from Huntsville, AL but spent most of my time moving around in Madison. Recently, this past January I transferred to the urban jungle of Birmingham, AL to attend The University of Alabama at Birmingham to pursue a degree in Communication Studies and Marketing. I’m stoked for my future in Public Relations to market industries potentially in fashion.
I grew up my whole life with a mom who is a hairdresser, and she taught me the finer things in life like: understanding color moods, recognizing what styles match people’s individual body shapes, making me question why people do what they do and why they wear what they wear.
She made me observant. She made me understanding and from that I grew a natural eye and a natural love for color, shape, style, and fashion. Yes, I grew up the little girl making clothes for my dolls and wishing that someday I could become a fashion designer, like Heidi Klum. I grew older and became obsessed with shows like Project Runway and all that is TLC/HGTV, drooling over the chance to do what those contestants did.
My fashion dreams never died though. As I grew older and starting see life more realistic and I set aside the dream of becoming a fashion designer. I knew I would never have the same amount of drive as my fellow competitors. So I take my love for communicating and fashion into the Public Relations world where hopefully someday I can represent a company involving the fashion industry and lead them in the marketing direction they need.
My style is very eclectic. Most of these summer days you’ll catch me rocking a cotton dress with some cut-outs, a light jacket around my waist, and a sandal type of yoga flip flop or braided strappy. Other days my style reaches out to grungy ripped jeans, fitted black blazers, giraffe-printed A shape dresses, glove-like black maxi dresses, to soccer shorts and a T-shirt knotted up on the side.
I’m super excited to get this summer started, searching for street fashionistas and developing my career in the communication and fashion industry. Have an exciting and deliciously stylish summer gurus!
