STYLE GURU BIO: Bridget Smith

Hello, everyone! My name is Bridget Smith.  This is both the start of my second semester at CollegeFashionista and my last semester as an English/Creative Writing major at SUNY New Paltz.  (When I originally typed this out, I ironically enough, spelled “English” wrong. Can you tell the prospect of an open future is just now hitting me?). In addition to posts, similar to the ones I made last year, I will also be heading into N.Y.C. twice a week as a Marketing Intern for CollegeFashionista! I’m so excited to delve more deeply into a community that is inclusive and inspiring.

If you followed my posts at all last semester, you would have quickly learned that I 1) love the color black and 2) love jewelry. This semester, I have decided to integrate more color into my wardrobe, as I learned that those who shy away from color do not have to submerge themselves in a neon body suit to get acclimated to something new. Instead, I purchased a pink blazer, which I absolutely LOVE.  It’s tapered, which I think is fun and not so rigid and form fitting.  It’s such a loud piece that I feel as if pairing it with an all-black top and tight black skinny jeans is not a sell-out to my resolution. Instead, having one major color item to focus on gives the blazer the attention and emphasis it deserves.  I pair the outfit with my newest addiction: short black booties.  This particular pair I got at H&M and have been centering outfits around since their purchase. They’re easy to move in, not too big of a heel and most importantly, a nice shoe that I feel comfortable walking into class with.

As I begin my second semester with CollegeFashionista, I would like to reflect on my favorite part of my work for the first semester, which was the validation and confidence that fashion gives people. Clothing style can say so much about a person, and I’m excited to go out and hear what it says!

So there’s a little about me! I’m excited to show you what I see during this wonderful and exciting new semester!
