STYLE GURU BIO: Bridget Deely

Hello fashion lovers! My name is Bridget and I’m so excited to kick off this summer as your newest CollegeFashionista Style Guru. I am a rising senior at the University of Pittsburgh where I study Business and Communications. When I’m not hitting the books you can probably find me running to a club meeting on campus. I love to be busy; at Pitt I am an active member of the American Marketing Association, a Resident Assistant and the marketing manager for my campus’s student-run thrift store, The University of Thriftsburgh.

I am about as quirky as they come. I love crafting, painting, playing the ukulele, watching old movies, running and sifting through my favorite fashion blogs. However, the quickest way to my heart is through a few bad puns!

Growing up, my parents had a quote for almost every occasion. Even when it came to getting dressed in the morning my mom had a Coco Chanel quote ready for that, too: “Dress shabbily, they remember the dress; dress impeccably, they remember the woman.” Thanks to my mom and Coco I learned early on that confidence is key, and using style to express yourself is the best way to reflect the best version of you to others.

Looking back on it, I’ve gone through quite the fashion transformation. Between the always “trendy” Aeropostale graphic T-shirts, fake UGGs and the classic jean skirt/legging combo, I’m thankful my closet hit a renaissance half way through my high school career. I found the more I learned about myself the easier it was to find clothing to match my personality and the more comfortable I felt in my own skin.

Since high school I’ve changed a lot, and as a result my wardrobe has done the same. This summer you can be sure to see me wearing lots of peasant tops, anything floral, midi skirts and my favorite kimono—but not all together, of course!

As for Pitt, there is never a dull moment going to school in a city. There’s so much to do, places to see and styles to be spotted. I can’t wait to show you all the fashion-forward students I get to see on my campus every day. Throughout the summer I hope I can inspire you to find a style that speaks to you. I’m so excited to share summer 2015 with you as part of the CollegeFashionista team! Stay tuned for tons of style advice, inspiration and a corny pun or two.
