STYLE GURU BIO: Briana Martinez

Bonjour, loves! My name is Briana Martinez and I’m comin’ at you live from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. I am a Marketing and Human Resources Management double-major with a minor in French and a certificate in Athletic and Outdoor Industry. With a combination of my love for athletics and my passion for fashion, I hope to land a job working for a stylish athletic company like Nike or adidas (both conveniently headquartered here in my home state) after graduating. This is my second term reporting as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I’m excited for more RAD experiences with the Guru Gang!

I would try to define my personal style, but I’m a firm believer in never limiting yourself; whether that be with one’s education, amount of cupcakes consumed or with one’s sense of fashion. In a world where trends fade in and out faster than my GPA, I try to steer from categorizing my looks and recognize them for what they are—art. One of the reasons I am obsessed with fashion is because it invites others to catch a glimpse of an every day stranger’s individual tastes. Fashion is a way of expressing oneself without a single word. Furthermore, fashion is an art that knows no language boundaries. Thanks to the universal sharing tool known as the Internet, fashion trends from around the world are accessible at the click of a button. And for that, we are forever grateful!

For this look, I went a little current trends crazy—faux-realz! To tie in an animal-friendly trend of the holiday seasons, I layered this brown faux fur vest with a taupe long sleeved T-shirt dress. Continuing on with the trendiness, I added in some ever so popular olive green in my own way with this olive green floppy hat. To finish off the look I threw on my go-to black chunky heels, perfect for roaming the city. I also grabbed my favorite nude Michael Kors cross-body handbag and added a touch of spunk with a faux fur pom key charm—a perfect stocking stuffer or last-minute birthday present!

Stay tuned for more trendy looks of Fashionistas and Fashionistos spotted through the eyes of a young Portlander!
