STYLE GURU BIO: Bethany Stokoski

Hey there, Fashionistas/os! It’s hard to believe I’m already starting my third semester as a Style Guru Intern and I can’t wait to share my favorite winter trends with you all. For those of you who don’t know me, I’m a sophomore at DePaul University in Chicago studying public relations and advertising with a minor in journalism. I’ve had a love for fashion for as long as I can recall and writing is one of my favorite pastimes, so having the opportunity to be a Style Guru has been a really enjoyable experience thus far!

My outfit shown here is a pretty accurate representation of my wintertime style. I really enjoy wearing my leather leggings as a substitute for my usual everyday bottoms of jeans or leggings since they make me appear more put together. When wearing leather leggings during the day, I typically pair them with a chunky sweater, like my favorite charcoal turtleneck shown here. The sweater helps to dress down the leggings and make it more of a daytime look overall.

Lastly, the slip-on sneakers I’m wearing are one of my favorite purchases that I’ve made recently. After taking a trip to New York a few weeks ago, I realized that the sneaker trend is really popular right now since this winter has been unseasonably warm. I saw so many women rocking cool and trendy sneakers, which is what inspired me to buy these ones when I came back. I debated between the leopard print and a plain gray color, but decided on the printed option since I really don’t have any other shoes remotely similar to them. Since buying them, I’ve discovered that I really enjoy finding unique ways to mix classic winter pieces, like heavy sweaters with more warm weather pieces like skirts or sneakers. You’ll definitely be seeing that trend reflected in my future CollegeFashionista articles.

This winter has already been really exciting for me with my newest purchases including over-the-knee boots, the leopard print sneakers and my first knit vest purchase. I’m really excited to share my styling tips for those pieces with you all and I’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with other recent purchases I make or trends I find that I love. In case you’re looking to invest in some pieces for the winter, I recommend furry coats, leather pants and turtlenecks.
