I am so grateful to have concluded 2014 with the CollegeFashionista team. Writing for CollegeFashionista was the highlight of my year and I cannot wait to see what fashion opportunities 2015 brings.

My name is Bailey and I am halfway through my sophomore year at Pepperdine University. I am just your basic Orange County girl who jumped from Malibu to London for my second year of college, and love every minute of it. I am obsessed with Laguna Beach, the movie White Christmas, attempting to dance to my favorite song “23” by Mike Will Made It and, of course, clothes.

My love of fashion has definitely developed over the past 20 years. In this past semester, I was surrounded by fabulous girls who knew how to dress to the nines for every occasion. It was quite exhilarating—if we needed to dress up for a night out, all the girls would be scrambling around our house and raiding one another’s closets. Every event would be characterized by full makeup and hair, along with glamorous dresses and heels.

Living with such a variety of girls with a variety of styles has influenced my personal style. Back home in Southern California, I would never think of wearing a puffy vest; in London, it is a staple in my wardrobe. London is one of the most fabulous places I have ever seen. Forget London Fashion Week, because the streets are a fashion show! Living in such an incredible city has allowed me to explore my own taste in fashion and realize that I can wear whatever I want, as long as I feel confident.

This outfit is one that is perfect for my lifestyle. It reflects my California roots while also hinting at my new living situation. I paired this striped sweater with black jeans and fringe booties. Furry sweaters are all the rage both in London and Orange County. Hats are also very popular, so I wanted to join the trend. I completed this outfits with a large tote, perfect to throw everything I ever owned into as I walk to Hyde Park. I love this outfit because it represents how confusing I am.

One thing I have learned and want to remind all you Fashionistas/os out there as we enter the 2015: “It is better to arrive late, than to arrive ugly.” I hope you all had a great New Year and cannot wait to share my semester with you!
