STYLE GURU BIO: Angelica Alston

Hey, style friends! My name is Angelica Alston and I am an excited Fashionista joining the Style Guru team this semester. I am a senior attending North Carolina State University, where I study fashion textile management with a concentration in product development.

Some of my favorite things include clothing in all black, hot tea, and sushi. When it comes to fashion, I don’t think I stick to any certain style. I dress based on my mood and inspirations, which luckily gives me a lot of room to experiment. As a kid I was always into art and it eventually grew into a passion and a way to express myself to others.

I am currently obsessed with the styles of Elaine Welteroth, Aimme Song, and Sazan Hendrix. On any given day if I am stumped about what to wear, a few clicks on any of their Instagram feeds will leave me feeling sartorially inspired. Aside from fashion, these three girl bosses serve as an example of what can happen if you stick to your craft and better yourself day by day.

In this look I combined my love for comfort with a couple of dressy elements, like this gray cardigan that I got for a deal! When you are petite and short, like myself, you have to be really careful when it comes to wearing items that go past your knees, like midi skirts and dresses, or this cardigan for example. For so long I was worried that I would not be able to pull this cardigan off due to my height. I decided to finally go for it and opt for fashion neutrals and everything came together perfectly!

My Adidas leggings add a touch of athleisure while my asymmetrical tank top adds shape and dimension. As I mentioned before, a lot of my clothing is black, and while I am trying to venture out into bold colors and patterns, I did opt for a cheetah print flat for that extra pop!

When it comes to arm candy, the more the merrier. I have grown to love rose gold, and my Fossil watch I got for Christmas quickly became my favorite. I always choose bracelets that compliment my watch without stealing the spotlight. My black tote was another favorite I received over the holidays, and should be a staple in any Fashionistas closet. You can never go wrong with black!

I hope you enjoyed this simple and chic look! Make sure you click the blue links to purchase some of these must have items. Working for CollegeFashionista is such a blessing, and I can’t wait to take you all on my Style Guru journey. It is going to be a fun ride!
