STYLE ADVICE: Pop of Color

Now that we’ve entered into the dreary wintertime that typically plagues January and February (if you live in colder regions like myself), it can feel a little daunting and difficult to find outfits that spark joy and creativity. But gray skies and cold weather doesn’t mean that you have to sacrifice style and excitement. With just a few accessories, you can brighten your day as well as your outfit with some simple statement pieces.

In this lovely Fashionista’s look, she chose to layer up a dress and cardigan for some extra warmth underneath her coat, and topped it off with a nice burnt orange scarf to add some contrast with the gray of her peacoat, and to keep her bundled up as she’s headed out on the town or to class. With tights to keep her legs toasty, she still made a dress accessible in the wintertime while staying warm.

Lastly, her final pop of color was in those magnificent shoes. The yellow lace-up platforms really encapsulate the entire look and give it something festive during a time when the cold weather can really put a damper on your creative style. She added another contrasting color with the turquoise bag and a little bit of glam with a large-faced leather watch. Her blue statement sunglasses top it all off and bring the entire look together.

Overall, this look is quite effortless, as she only needed to layer on a few staple pieces she already had in her closet, and with the extra pops of color, she added an element of vibrancy into an otherwise colorless day.
