STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Monochromatic Look

Although the monochromatic look sounds boring at first, the concept of one-color dressing is one of the easiest tricks in the book to a put together, chic look. The monochromatic look does not mean dressing in the same shade of a certain color for the entire outfit but instead various shades of whichever color you choose. This allows for a bit of variation and depth.

Take a look at our Fashionista here! She has on a casual, black dress under a gray, lightweight anorak. The heather gray scarf adds a pop of brightness to the outfit while the booties add a preppy note to the outfit. The gold bracelet gives the look a hint of shine.

This head-to-toe ensemble of dark colors may seem extreme at first, but adding different fabrics gives the look texture and interest. The combination of darker tones also has a slimming effect. Going for a one-color look can be slightly tricky, but when one masters this skill, the possibilities are endless. There are an infinite number of ways to pair different textures and colors. Depending on your mood and the style you are looking for, you can also change which color you choose to focus your entire outfit around.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Texture, texture, texture! Wearing a monochromatic outfit can seem boring at first, but layering a variety of textures and shades can prevent you from looking like a walking block of color!”
