STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Simple and Smart

With Halloween ending, we sadly only have a few more weeks to enjoy the fall festivities, drink Chai lattes apologetically and find every excuse to wear beanies and flannels. Personally, fall is my absolute favorite season. My closet is transitioning between summer and winter ensembles, letting me mix and match as much as I please. Hot or cold, the alternating weather gives fashion a challenge, a contest many are willing to prove.

Exploring the nooks and crannies of my schools public garden, I wanted to highlight this Fashionista’s simple and cozy style before the drudgery of winter swamps us. Recycling a white, delicate and peasant-like summer dress, she threw on a pair of black tights and a brown flannel to create more of a fall look. This outfit acts as a shape shifter due to the multiple layers but, the cherry on top to this outfit plays in at the beanie. This beanie picks up lightly on the grey pattern in the flannel while following neutral undertones. Paired with some brown work boots, she combines multiple colors without appearing overwhelming. What I think stands out most with this outfit is the natural makeup and effortless breeze. You can look elegant without the pearls, all it may take is a flannel.

Coming from this Fashionista, she described her style as follows, “I think I tend to dress really simply and rely a lot on good basics. I love flannels and slip dresses and a good pair of jeans. I’m also obsessed with my Dr. Martens Mary Jane’s, they’re probably my favorite thing in my wardrobe. And I love ruffles and brandy lipstick.”
