STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Put On Your Cap

Some people say that prints speak louder than words but this Fashionista says why not have both? When it comes to adding flare to your outfit, the bolder the better all within balance.

Even though fall has arrived along with all of its counterparts—pumpkin spice flavored anything, flannels and the newest scarf style—the weather component has yet to hit here in New Orleans. It still feels like summer and regardless of how badly you want to pull out your chunky knits, we’re still stuck in the very early stages of transition clothes. That means on some days you can now break out a pair of pants or a long sleeve top and hope to not overheat on your way to class.

This Fashionista nails a transition look by pairing a fall favorite toned tank with a compact houndstooth printed pair of trousers. She’s moving away from summer florals and airy designs to embrace the season upon us while still staying appropriately dressed for the lingering heat. This look can easily be complemented by a black bomber jacket or heavy denim jacket and take you into the winter months ahead.

Most importantly this Fashionista caught my eye with her unique accessories. While Gigi Hadid, Kylie Jenner and many other fan-favorite celebrities are driving in the “dad hat” trend to replace snapbacks and flat brim hats, a cap with this much personality will never go out of style. She harnesses the hat’s black and white print with spunky Vernice Fresca lace-up shoes that resemble a next level pair of Converse and comes full circle with a classic Coach shoulder bag. This look proves that street style can encompass anything from clean cut to unconventional or any combination of the two.
