STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Military-Chic

June 8th, 2015 at 2:51am

Summer is all about going to the beach or how we New Jerseyans like to say “heading down the shore”. When I plan a trip to the shore I make sure to pack stylish yet comfortable clothes. After an entire day of laying on the beach and splashing in the waves the last thing I want is tight, constricting clothes. While an airy Lilly Pulitzer sundress, such as this one from Nordstrom, is perfect as a bathing suit cover-up. It can lead to chilly legs when walking around town or on the boardwalk after sunset.

A great way to incorporate comfort into a stylish outfit is adopting the ever popular military-esque style. This trend has gained more attention this past year. Wearing army green trousers are both iconic and functional, and can be paired with a heels and a flashy top to dress up the look or with a sandals and a basic white tank for a more causal look.

I found this Fashionista at an arcade on the boardwalk. Her confidence and awesome army trousers and sports watch immediately caught my attention. She paired her pants with a halter-style floral crop top, sandals, a striped sling bag (perfect for carrying all of your beach essentials) and a cool neon red sports watch.

This look is versatile. It can be dressed down to wear around town, to class and is great for travel because of its comfortable, unrestricting material. It also can be easily made into a dressy ensemble by pairing the trousers with girly statement pieces like these heels, perfect for a date. I know I need to find me a pair during my next shopping trip!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My advice is to wear whatever makes you happy. Honestly who cares what anyone says. As long as you’re comfortable in what you’re wearing, then it really doesn’t matter in my opinion.”
