STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Let Me Per-suede You

Now that the cold weather seems to be rolling around in most parts of the country, winter fashion is swinging into full gear. One of the trickiest parts about the winter is how to be fashionable while still wearing clothes that help keep you warm. Each winter there seems to be a new style to do the trick: chunky sweaters, faux fur coats, leather pants—you name it. This season, my newest obsession for the weather is suede everything.

Not only is suede a thicker material that gives you an extra layer of warmth, but it’s also comfortable, versatile and trendy. While the classic suede boots and heels have been around for many years, this season you’ll find a bunch of new suede styles—some of my favorites include flirty skirts for a fun evening out, and casual dresses that can easily transition you from day to night.

Because suede already has so much texture, you should definitely let it be the main attraction of your outfit, and pair it with more neutral items. This Fashionista pairs her gorgeous chocolate brown skirt, with a simple cropped sweater, brown leather boots and a scarf to tie the look together; the simplicity of the rest of her outfit allows the lace-up details on the skirt to really pop.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think suede items are great staples in your winter wardrobe because you can work them into any outfit, no matter the occasion. Sometimes I wear this skirt (pictured above) with a crop top and heels when I’m going out at night—the possibilities are endless.”
