STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dress for Success

It’s finals week here at UCLA. Between all-nighters, coffee jitters and three-hour tests, there’s hardly time for food or sleep. So how do we find the perfect armour to battle finals? There are two easy routes to finals fashion, “dress for success” and “don’t sweat, finals sweats.” While the latter provide the most comfort with the least effort by throwing on a pair of sweatpants, this Fashionista has chosen to begin her road to an A by acing her outfit.

Dressing nicely isn’t as hard as it seems. This Fashionista’s outfit is perfect to make you feel good while maintaining comfort. To match her girly personality, she chose a classic black and white collared blouse. The floaty nature of the blouse allows for easy movements so you are as comfortable possible as you push through that last part of your test. This blouse can be matched by a plain black skirt to give the outfit an overall more professional style. However, this Fashionista rocked a casual vibe by pairing her chic top with a pair of denim. Her jeans become just the item she needs to combat the Los Angeles winter chill we have been getting. Although it is not quite cold enough to pull on another layer, wearing pants covers more surface area to protect against that unpredictable wind. If you are dressing for success, what better way to boost your confidence than actually giving yourself a little boost! A pair of heeled booties are a great way to finish off this outfit. Not only do these booties complete the look, but hearing the clickety-clack sounds of heels always make me feel more professional and on top of my game.

Lastly, this Fashionista is keeping it simple by sporting a black rimmed frame glasses to add onto the academic feel. Also, check out her quick and easy makeup. A little mascara with some shimmery pink and neutral shadow to highlight her eyes, followed by a touch of lip gloss and she’s all set to go. Since she is keeping it super minimalistic, don’t forget your best accessory is always a smile! Wear a sweet smile, and you won’t need much else. This simple outfit and five-minute makeup will give you ample time to sleep so you are well rested but still dress the part to kill those finals.
