STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cozy Couture

January 21st, 2015 at 2:00am

I think anyone here in the cold, blistery city of Pittsburgh would have to agree that the most current trend in local fashion would be cold weather accessories such as scarves, hats and gloves. You won’t find many crop tops and sandals this time of year. Even in the dead of winter, it’s possible to show off your style and stay warm. One of the great things about this region of the country is that as the seasons change so do the styles and trends. We have the opportunity to cycle through all different types of clothing, shoes and accessories. Fashionistas in Pittsburgh have a pretty diverse wardrobe that ranges from bikinis to parkas.

This Fashionista looks fabulous with all of her cold weather accessories, and is managing to stay warm and cozy on a chilly January morning. The knit headband looks very cute, while still allowing her to show off her hair style. The infinity scarf is also cozy and continues to add style to the dreary days of winter. This particular kind of scarf can be worn both indoors and outdoors. Large knit scarves are perfect for this time of year. The leopard print gloves add just the perfect touch of flair that is needed to perfect this outfit. In regards to shoes, her combat boots look great with a high wool sock. This is a very casual but edgy look that goes great with many different clothing combinations.

You can brighten up a rather dull time of year and stand out by choosing to rock some printed or bright colored accessories such as scarves, hats and gloves. Add a vibrant tote or purse to include an extra pop of color and style. For those rare sunny winter days, don’t be afraid to wear a pair of funky sunglasses to liven up your look. Sunglasses can be a fun year-round accessory.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “It’s all about finding the perfect cold weather accessories and really great boots. When you’re out strolling down the street, no one can see what’s underneath your coat. The outerwear becomes much more important.”
