When out and about these days, it is impossible not to notice how hot of a trend cardigans are. Whether it is how seamlessly they flow from fall to winter or their incredible versatility, cardigans are a wardrobe essential. The key to this popular trend is recognizing how easily it can be adopted into your style.
When thinking about cardigans, my first thought is chilly autumn days with comfy layers and knee-high boots. Then I remember that I live in Wisconsin, where the fashion challenge for much of the year is to fight off the artic temperatures while staying true to your style. During the winter season, I focus on thicker, cozier cardigans combined with multiple layers and paired with warm socks and scarves. The more challenging seasons to imagine the use of cardigans in are spring and summer. In my opinion, these two times of the year are actually the easiest to implement a cute cardigan into your style. My favorite pairing is a cute tank top and cut-off shorts with a lightweight cardigan thrown on top. Although, if your still looking for a way to utilize your favorite thick and cozy cardigan in the warmer months, toss it over a cute spring dress for an outfit that still protects you from the nighttime chills.
This Fashionista displays the best of the winter take on this trend. With a thick, neutral cardigan, the styling opportunities are endless. To complete the outfit, she chose skinny jeans, which look great with cardigans. Adding a great pair of skinnies takes your entire outfit to a more versatile level, due to their ability to be dressed up or down. In order to finish off the outfit she chose a thick scarf and socks to fight off the winter chill. The winter accessories work well with the neutral cardigan since they are in such a bold wine color. After all, marsala is said to be the color of 2015.
As you can tell, a good cardigan can be utilized in your wardrobe year-round. I think the popularity of this trend speaks for itself, not only due to its versatility but its comfort too. From running errands or going to class, a cardigan will not disappoint.
