STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Comfort is Key

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again—dressing cute when it’s summer in New York City is hard. You have to worry about the unbearably hot subway stations, comfortable shoes that won’t make your feet sweat and still attempting to look appropriate. I myself have been trying to master my go-to summer look, and when I saw this Fashionista I was truly inspired.

She was actually on her way to Brooklyn to go apartment hunting for her first-ever New York City apartment. While this can be exciting, it’s also crazy-stressful. That’s why she chose such a comfortable (but still cute) outfit to trek around Brooklyn in. Instead of an impractical tiny purse, she opted for a big, distressed bag to hold all the papers and forms she’s going to get at the open houses – smart girl. She also swapped heels for these adorably comfortable metallic booties, which are the perfect lightweight summer boots.

But my absolute favorite part of this outfit is the skirt—just look at it. This skirt is truly a work of art and an absolute necessity for all girls everywhere. I say this because it’s not only a fresh take on the maxi skirt, it’s a take on the newly popular high-low skirt as well (high in the front, low in the back – the mullet of fashion, some may say). What makes this skirt so amazing is that it displays the class and professionalism of a maxi skirt, while still keeping this Fashionista cool, like a mini skirt would. Not to mention it’s light, flowy and adorable as well. Such a win!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Always dress appropriately for wherever you’re going and the temperature outside. Do a little bit of research before leaving the house. You’ll be so much happier if you’re comfortable and look cute – you don’t have to pick one or the other.”
