STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Above The Knee

Sometimes, I just don’t know what to wear. Usually it’s because I’m running late for a special occasion and I’m feeling rushed since I didn’t plan out what to wear ahead of time. So I’ll go searching through my closet, frantically filing through each article of clothing in hopes of finding something that will inspire me. I’ll try on multiple outfits, all of which probably wont be good enough to wear. Before I know it, I’ll only have 30 minutes before I need to leave (and knowing me I haven’t even blow dried my hair yet). We’ve all had moments like this. Instead of panicking, I’ve found that it’s best to rely on a go-to piece that I can count on. For me, that’s means wearing a dress, jumpsuit or romper.

If you’ve read any of my past articles, you know that I haven’t always been a fan of rompers. I used to think that they were juvenile because they reminded me of when I went through a phase of being obsessed with them (I also had braces and side bangs at this time if that puts things in perspective). However, after falling in love with how sophisticated jumpsuits can be, I decided to give rompers another chance. Rompers are the perfect mix between a dress and jumpsuit. They provide the shortness of a dress but the added comfort and coverage of a jumpsuit. They’re just as effortless and don’t take much thought to throw on before heading out the door. During colder weather, you can always wear a pair of tights underneath or knee-high socks for added warmth. Dress them up or down with different accessories to create the perfect look for any occasion. Pair them with creepers, a leather jacket and baseball cap for class or with heels and statement earrings for date night.
