STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: A Romper to Dye For

Are you ready to go to funky town? It seems that disco really isn’t dead after all. In fact, the disco era is ready to get back in your closet. You may not see bell bottoms and platform boots while walking on the street, but ‘70s style has made a definite comeback. Rebecca Arnold, a fashion historian at the Courtald Institute of Art in London, says “certain elements of the period—the garish prints and weird color combinations—keep repeating.” From paisley to polka dots to tie-dye, bright patterns are perfect for summer.

When wearing a bold pattern, it’s best to keep other parts of the outfit neutral. This allows the pattern to stand out and attract attention on its own. This Fashionista did just that when she chose to rock a bright blue and white tie-dye romper. Not only does the romper have an exciting print, but it also has a playful open back. She dressed down the romper by pairing it with basic white canvas sneakers, fun rainbow ankle bracelets and naturally wavy hair. Together these elements give off a laid back, bohemian vibe. Adding different accessories to an outfit is the perfect way to showcase your individual style.

The 21st century version of ‘70s fashion appeals to all types of people. From girly to edgy, lively patterns can be dressed up or down to suit your style.

What is your STYLE ADICE OF THE WEEK? “I usually pick out my outfits based on comfort, not style. Look for single comfortable yet cute pieces that are easy to throw on in the morning. Then add simple accessories to finish.”
